Los Angeles Living Trusts
Experienced Representation throughout Los Angeles, CA
If you are thinking about how to best set up your estate to minimize your loved ones’ time, expense and anxiety after you pass away, a Living Trust offers many benefits. Because the property in the trust does not pass through probate, it can pass immediately and at no expense to your heirs. Still, you can maintain control of your assets during your lifetime. To set up a Living Trust, you want an experienced lawyer who has helped others in similar circumstances.
At the Los Angeles office of Hart, Mieras & Morris, we offer extensive experience to people throughout the area with estate planning needs or concerns. We established our first office in Los Angeles in 1962, and senior partner Gary Morris has provided trust and estate counsel to firm clients since 1972.
We know that the preparation of a Living Trust involves consideration of many factors, including investments, real estate, insurance and tax/accounting matters. We have a team of professionals at our office to help with all your needs, including investment advisors and money managers, a real estate broker, an insurance agent, and a tax specialist.

Los Angeles Living Trust Lawyers
We will work closely with you to identify your estate planning goals and objectives, and will prepare a trust that addresses all of your concerns. We will also help you take the steps necessary to transfer any property into the trust.
We help people use Living Trusts to address the medical, educational or other special needs of family members or loved ones, including parents, children, grandchildren, siblings and others. In addition, we can help you use a Living Trust to eliminate any capital gains taxes upon the death of your spouse or preserve your federal estate tax exemption.
When you put your property into a Living Trust, it avoids probate, saving your loved ones time and money. If you have a will set up to distribute your assets upon death, it may go through the probate process, which can take anywhere from one to two years to complete. In addition, the attorney handling the estate will customarily charge a fixed percentage of the estate (usually from four to eight percent) to settle the estate.
We will prepare and execute all the necessary documentation to establish your California Living Trust and help you transfer any property into the trust.
In addition to Living Trusts, we also provide other estate planning services, including:
- the preparation of wills, powers of attorney and health care directives
- the preparation of other types of trusts, including irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), grantor annuity trusts (GRATs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), charitable lead trusts (CLTs), and charitable remainder trusts (CRTs)
- tax planning for estate distribution
